My name's Lindsay Broadwell, and since 2019 I've been one of the three elected councillors for Western Ward in Leicester, which besides Western Park also includes New Parks, Kirby Frith, and Braunstone Frith. New Parks and Braunstone Frith are home to a foodbank each. I volunteer for them each week and I see firsthand what the impact of Westminster's disdain for the poorest among us looks like.
Here's the foodbank at New Parks. We're both called Lindsay. This definitely never gets confusing to anyone.
And here's the foodbank at Braunstone Frith. We are not both called Lindsay this time. Joe is a great guy.
Anyway, here we are again: the most vulnerable members of our community need your help. Following the £20 cut to Universal Credit, demand for the foodbanks at Braunstone Frith and at New Parks is up again, and funding is getting dangerously scarce.
The target is £3000. If we hit that, I will do another century ride. One hundred miles. One very silly person (me). One bicycle. And this time.... that bicycle will be a Brompton.
This one, to be exact.
I also haven't picked out a route beforehand this time, and am open to suggestions. Thanks for your time, your kind donation, and I hope we hit the target soon!
Please share as far and wide as you can.
Thanks again!
