Thanks for checking out my fundraising page!
Jesuit Refugee Service ( JRS) provides essential support to vulnerable migrants within the Australian community including people seeking asylum and refugees. I currently work as a caseworker for this organisation and know first hand how tough many families and individuals are already doing during this pandemic era.
Many of our clients hold temporary visa’s which mean they have been without any government support in the past year. Many work casual jobs and with very little job security.
With news today of the Greater Sydney restrictions tightening for Fairfield, Liverpool and Canterbury/Bankstown LGA’s, I can’t help but feel this is another blow to an already vulnerable group. The people we serve are incredibly resourceful and resilient, but there are so many structural barriers that make them some of the hardest hit people in our country at the moment.
Many will be without work for the next two weeks and I am hoping to raise funds to purchase E- vouchers for Woolworths/Coles to be able to donate to JRS for additional resources to provide our clients.
There are so many people doing it tough right now, and at times I feel quite powerless on how to address it. If you feel similarly and are in a financial position to contribute, you can join me in supporting our community who are being hit the hardest during this time.
Feel free to message me privately if you would like to know more about this cause or the work of JRS!
