In December 2023, the Matriarch of our family, Toni Junghans, was admitted to the hospital due to severe shortness of breath. She was found to have blood clots in her lungs and a 2 inch mass was found in her left lung. A biopsy was performed of the mass and surrounding lymph nodes and after the Christmas and New Years holiday, she found out on Jan 4th that she had Stage 4 malignant adenocarcinoma, which is cancer of the lungs. Then only a few days after finding out this devastating news, she began to become severely weak and developed neurological symptoms. Her daughter Molly, my cousin, who is a physical therapist knew something was wrong and called 911 to send her back to the hospital and she was found to have had multiple strokes and that the cancer had also metastasized to her brain. All of this news coming in the matter of one week and has been very devastating for our family not only emotionally but financially. Toni is the primary caregiver for her husband Peter who is blind and disabled, so she has not been able to care for him since falling ill. My cousin Molly has had to step up as the primary caregiver for both of them, she been going back and forth between caring for her dad at home, taking care of the household, dogs, her mom in the hospital and all while trying to work her home health physical therapy job at the same time. Due to all of this stress and chaos, she is missing visits at her job which isn’t paid since she is PRN. Her sister Terri has taken FMLA as well from her job in Alabama to come help care for her mom, but she is also not getting paid for her leave of absence. Toni will be starting her chemo treatments soon and we are praying for healing and that she will beat this!! … but she has a long road ahead of her as well as the family. This has all happened so fast and the family needs our help.
As a military family, we know that life can happen unexpectedly. It takes an army to survive sometimes. Anything helps! Mainly, we just want to make sure that life continues for Molly, Terri and Uncle Peter as Aunt Toni goes through treatment. The smallest donations will go a long ways for them. $5 adds up quick!
Not having to worry about dinner will be huge for them! So if you would like to donate a nights meal, they are taking whatever is donated!
If you can help in any way, we would be forever grateful ❤️❤️❤️
We are also taking Zelle donations for anyone who doesn’t want to use the platform!
