Hello, my name is Anderson Castro. I am from Saint Paul Minnesota, attending Bethel University. Me, Belginy, and Jessica are the service project leaders of the Latino led Christian community group called Poder. Lately, me and my community have been met with a challenge far greater than us. Families have been torn apart, children have been wondering when their next meal is going to be, and students, like me, have to sit helplessly. However, I don’t want to be a spectator, but a fighter. Therefore, me and my Bethel community have put on a fundraiser to provide food for 35 families living in the twin cities area who cannot leave their homes due to ICE activity. All these funds will be used in supermarkets such as Walmart, Aldi, and Sam’s Club to buy food such as oil, milk, rice, beans, eggs, etc.. As well as water, hygiene products, and basic necessities for those in need. On Thursday January 22nd we will be buying the groceries with the raised funds and on Friday January 23rd, 2026 we will be gathering students from Bethel to pack boxes and deliver them to the families. This project is not only to raise funds, but to directly impact our hurting community. We want to mourn with those who mourn, cry with those who cry, and not ignore the pain that is breaking so many souls. We want to be a light in a world full of darkness, a peace in the middle of the storm, and hope to those being persecuted.
Thank you all! God Bless each and every one of you.
