Near West Side Neighbors Support Fund
Donation protected
**UPDATE 2-13-21** Originally we wanted to raise, in combination with the grant money from the city, $1,350. However, we have received such amazing support that we have decided to raise our fundraising goal to $6,000. We feel that we will be able to serve even more people with this amount.
We as neighbors have had a continued shared burden during this pandemic regarding the needs within our boundaries. In an effort to address these needs, the NWSNO board would like to introduce the NWSNO Acts of Kindness. We have applied for the City of South Bend's Love Your Block grant - which awards 15 grants in amounts of $250-$350 each - and are looking to match or beat the funds we expect we will receive from the city. Originally we wanted to raise, in combination with the grant money from the city, $1,350. However, we have received such amazing support that we have decided to raise our fundraising goal to $6,000.
These funds would then be used for neighbors in need in the Near West Side Neighborhood in the following ways:
Food assistance: A grocery run unique to the family’s consumption and preferences. Help in locating community organizations that offer assistance - food banks, local churches, pantries and transportation to these organizations.

Utility Assistance: This will be a discretionary amount established by the NWSNO Acts of Kindness committee to help those who might be struggling to pay their utilities due to COVID-related hardships.
Furnace Repair: Winter in Indiana can be especially brutal. We would like to help contribute funds for furnace repairs to families in need. Total funds raised will determine how much we can give.

We have added a form on our website that we are inviting all the neighbors in need of assistance, who live within the boundaries of the Near West Side Neighborhood, to fill out and share their need(s) and contact information. This information will be confidential with the exception of the NWSO Acts of Kindness Committee. Neighbors are also welcome to nominate a neighbor or family in need to receive assistance.
PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TODAY.
Any amount will help. We will be totally transparent with the way funds have been distributed via our website, monthly newsletter, and neighborhood meeting(s). We will NOT, however, share the names of the families we help to honor their privacy.
This is one small thing that we can do to help our neighbors. We hope you are able to contribute. Thank you.
Sincerely,
The NWSNO Leadership team and board members
