Help AU Food Recovery Network fight food insecurity and food waste in the CSRA!
According to Feeding America, 1 in 8 members of the Augusta community suffer from food insecurity. As a campus-wide organization at AU, we hope to reduce food waste and improve food security to support the community in which we learn and live. Our initiative involves gathering recovered food from our campus dining halls, repackaging it, and delivering it to local shelters.
In our first 9 months, we have already recovered over 3,237 pounds of food, amounting to an estimated 3,885 meals provided and 9,712 pounds of CO2 saved! We hope to continue to expand this initiative in order to meet community needs. In order to do so, we are fundraising to buy more supplies, such as aluminum food pans and lids. We hope that you would consider donating to our initiative, so that we may continue to grow our organization and help mitigate food insecurity in the Augusta area.
Below are our estimates for how much impact your donation could have:
$10 donation = 13 pans = 52 lbs of food rescued, 43 meals served, 130 pounds of CO2 saved
$25 = 31 pans = 124 lbs of food rescued, 103 meals served, 310 pounds of CO2 saved
$50 = 62 pans = 248 lbs of food rescued, 206 meals served, 620 pounds of CO2 saved
$100 = 124 pans = 496 lbs of food rescued, 412 meals served, 1240 pounds of CO2 saved
$500 = 620 pans = 2480 lbs of food rescued, 2060 meals served, 6200 pounds of CO2 saved
