Food Parcel Fundraiser
Over the years YWAM Ireland has hosted over 40 sponsor trainees from various nations around the world, and the majority of those trainees have come from the beautiful country of South Africa. When hearing reports from previous sponsor trainees about the lack of food in their homes and communities due to the pandemic, we wanted to do something that could help!
So, we have partnered with a few of our friends in South Africa to raise enough money to provide food parcels for at least 50 families in need within the Durban area. Each food parcel will cost £35 (≈$43 or R785) and will include the following items:
10kg Maize Meal
10kg Rice
5lt Oil
5kg Samp
5kg Beans
1kg Margarine
6 x1L Long life Milk
10kg Flour
5kg Sugar
2 x Sunlight Bar Soap 500g
Polony
10 toilet paper rolls
4 x Baked beans
1kg Peanut butter
4x Fish Tin
4kg Porridge
Veggies combo (5kg potatoes, 2kg onion, cabbage)
All together, this should be enough food to last for at least a month.
In light of the pandemic, a major obstacle they're facing is getting to the grocery store when most people residing in townships don't have access to personal vehicles. Using public transport isn't safe during this time, so we've made arrangements to have the parcels delivered to their homes by one of our friends who is also former sponsor trainee!
When donating towards this fundraiser you will be contributing towards the cost of the food going into the parcel and the petrol it takes to make each delivery. Every £35 will sponsor a box, but if you don't have that much to give, don't worry! Every contribution helps get closer to the goal, no matter the amount.
Thank you in advance for your generosity. It is truly beautiful to see so many come together to help one another during such uncertain times.
Blessings,
YWAM Ireland & Friends
