Decades of conflict, displacement, poverty and extreme weather have ravaged Afghanistan. Adding to the extreme conditions is a hunger crisis. Today, nearly 13 million people in Afghanistan are experiencing hunger.

I am an Afghan-American refugee with deep ties to my country. It has been over forty years since I escaped Afghanistan, and the guilt of surviving, along with the love of my Afghans, fuels my desire to help those who are suffering. Having been able to revisit Afghanistan over the years, I developed loyal and meaningful connections with the Afghan and American communities.

I used my personal savings and started my first bakery in Carte Nauw, and we currently provide 320 fresh flatbreads (naan) to families daily. It is with great honor that I am able to contribute to the food crisis, and I welcome you to join me in reaching our goal of hiring additional employees and purchasing ingredients. We certainly aren't the first or only ones providing for them, but we hope to add to the many contributions others are making.
