So far we have delivered 5020 meals, feeding around 630 people over 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, we've run into a funding wall, and need your help to help keep cooking whilst we transition into the wonderful sustainable model we know we can be. So far, it's cost around £7000 per week to fund, supporting a local catering business in the process whilst getting food to those who need it. We want to continue providing to the same folk, and know that there are many more who could benefit once we're re set-up.
Waltham Forest Mutual Aid is a network of smaller groups, each roughly representing a ward within the Borough, supporting the local community by providing care and solidarity to people who are self-isolating or anyone in need right now. This can be shopping, prescription collection - where allowed and co-ordinated with a pharmacy - but also calls with people who feel anxious and lonely in isolation.
The longevity of mutual aid is part of putting the “we” back into society within a long-term perspective and “Hot Meals” is an initiative we want to see grow. Financial sustainability can be a challenge as we are running now, so we we're becoming a not-for-profit food cooperative, supporting a network of community kitchens. It is a project that will sustain our ethos, logistics, those whom we’ve been feeding, and include as many from our communities in the project!
Please donate and/or share to help Feed the Forest into the future!
