"Worst drought in years" - Over the past months, a severe food crisis has unfolded across Karamoja in northeastern Uganda.

The extreme weather driving heatwaves and wildfires across Europe is part of the same global El Niño pattern causing this devastating drought in Uganda. Prolonged drought has destroyed crops, depleted water sources, and left thousands of families without food. Tragically, lives have already been lost to hunger.

Why This Matters to Us

Kara-Tunga is a community tourism organization based right here in the region. We live and work alongside these communities every day. We see the severe hunger firsthand, and we listen to families sharing their struggles.

We refuse to look away. Our team of local guides and staff is organizing a direct, emergency food distribution to reach households in critical need.

A contribution of €25 feeds one household of six people for two weeks. Each emergency package includes:

We ensure 100% of your donation goes directly toward purchasing and delivering food. Distribution is carefully coordinated with local government and traditional leaders to reach those most affected, and is carried out entirely by the volunteer team at Kara-Tunga.
