Food for Impact: Fresh Meals For NYC Medical Staff

Hi, this is Nancy of Milk Money Kitchens and Kat, the chef/owner of Portable Provisions, a Manhattan-based catering company that sources “hyper-local”, organic produce from small family farms and sustainable, eco-friendly materials. The past few weeks have definitely been some of the most terrifying and stressful in our professional careers, but pale in comparison to what millions of others are currently facing in our beloved hometown of NYC.
With the support of our extraordinary network of badass female and veteran-owned small businesses; Portable Provisions, Milk Money Kitchens, Local Roots and Black Project 6 have combined our collective resources to create Food for Impact, an initiative to support our lifelines at the front line: the doctors, nurses and medical personnel who have been working tirelessly under inadequate conditions with insufficient protective gear risking their lives to protect our fellow New Yorkers; as well as providing a small stream of revenue to our farm partner friends during this time of crisis.
This Thursday Food for Impact delivered a fresh seasonal lunch to the ICU medical staff at New York Presbyterian as a small way of saying THANK YOU to their amazingly dedicated doctors and nurses. As small business owners hugely impacted by this pandemic, we are limited by our own financial resources but doing our best as employers to keep this mission- and our own small operations- running.
The swift and potentially transformative impact of community support is more essential now than ever, which is why we are reaching out for help to continue delivering family-style meals and eco-boxed lunches (including regionally sourced organic produce + biodegradable disposables) to medical staff at hospitals across NYC.
Every $10 donation delivers a freshly prepared + healthy meal to a NYC Medical Staffer or First Responder, while providing much-needed support for small family farms. 100% of donations will applied to sourcing produce through Local Roots; purchasing sustainable, environmentally responsible packaging + supplies; continuing to employ our amazing + loyal staff; and coordinating safe, efficient deliveries across New York. As long as this global pandemic persists our team aspires to deliver nutritious, comforting meals to those working the hardest to keep us all safe. Thanks so much for reading, and for your support.
