Hi my name is Kiel Fitzpatrick, I came across Sian Griffiths the landlady of the Bell Banbury trying to raise money to support families with food parcels, that are going to be struggling this Christmas.
The busiest time for them is of course Christmas and without your donations they can not do what they do, they already have 56 requests for Christmas boxes and they are expecting many more, they also try and offer each child one Christmas gift as some unfortunate children do not get many presents and they really look forward to them turning up with food and a gift.
This fundraiser hits home for me, as my parents divorced when I was young, due to an abusive farther, leaving my mother no option but to run, holding on to her three boys.
To see my mum hold jobs down raising three boys finding herself homeless and still having that energy and determination to not give up showed me how hard and cruel life can be, we never had expensive clothes, most of the time we shared between us, but she always ensured one way or another we had food in our belly’s.
without these food banks without the help of these amazing charities and people there will be so many dreading this time of year.
I with massive regret decided as a child to go and support my farther as I felt guilty he was on his own, and possibly could change, although he was very abusive to my mother, I felt I could not just ignore the fact he is my dad, until that day came, when I became his punchbag.
Every child should be excited on Christmas Eve, but realising my dad would rather be at the pub drinking, than being with his own child, waking up on Christmas Day totally alone, with nothing but thinking had I done something wrong, no present, no food, spending most the day in tears with no friends no family no support was the wake up call I needed to get back to my mum, who was now 500miles away.
If I can help 1 child this Christmas to never feel the way I did and to ensure a mother has to not worry about feeding her kids, I would have achieved everything and more in hopefully assisting Sian and her team, in reaching there goal.
so please share far and wide as they really need to hit at least 1k to be able to get 100 boxes out.
I am going to try and help doing my bit, by completing a cycle, unaided just me and a bicycle, leaving from my home town Weymouth, Dorset on Wednesday 06th November 2024 and cycling to the Bell, Banbury, OX16 4QJ, arriving on Saturday 09th November 2024, where Sian and her team are collecting food, Why Banbury, this is where my amazing mother Linda now lives.
I am definitely not a cyclist I just operate cranes, I am an ex soldier (veteran), and a dad of 2, this cycle is going to be 148.8miles taking me approx 3-4days, I will have no support vehicle and what I can fit on my bike & back is what I’ll take.
i will post my route and keep updates on my journey every day
thank you and please any donation small or big just know it will put a smile on a child's face this Christmas ♥️
please share with everyone you can to help reach there target ♥️
