Focusing on Abilities, not Disabilities

Hello everyone, thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me. My name is Ira Prakash and I am currently a senior at the Maggie Walker Governor's School.

Jacob's Chance is a unique nonprofit that seeks to meet the social, recreation, and health and wellness needs of individuals with physical, developmental and intellectual disabilities from children to adults. As a member of their teen board, I get the opportunity to work and help this beaming community. I enjoy every second with the participants and hope to create a more engaging environment for them. Additionally, I am instructor taekwondo with K-TOP Taekwondo and am able to help them develop both mentally and physically. I have been practicing taekwondo for over 10 years, and it has taught me countless, valuable lessons. Taekwondo has not only sculpted my own character over the past decade but has also become a conduit through which I can inspire others to embrace discipline, resilience, and the joy of continuous self-improvement. No matter the early Saturday mornings, I love seeing the smile on their face when they run through the obstacle course or start laughing when we practice new techniques together.

It is truly a privilege to have this opportunity with the Jacob's Chance community, and I hope you can help support us in our future goals. We plan engaging events for the participants and strive for an inclusive environment; I personally do not want anyone to feel limited by their capabilities, but rather empowered.
