WHAT IS IT?
Our community-driven DIY festival is truly a labor of love! As we grow, maintaining accessibility remains at the heart of who we are. The Flowers for ZAP program reserves a limited number of free or discounted tickets for individuals from marginalized communities facing structural barriers, while inviting those with the means to donate. Your generosity directly ensures everyone can experience the magic of our festival, regardless of financial circumstances. We believe the DMV's vibrant dance and punk community should be accessible to all – especially those who bring valuable perspectives but might be tight on funds.
HOW IT WORKS
Flowers for ZAP! is powered by community support through multiple channels:
- $15 from every ticket sold goes directly to the program
- Additional contributions can be made by purchasing donor passes, adding a donation at ticket checkout, or donating to the Go Fund Me
This collective effort covers not only tickets, but also helps create an environment where everyone feels genuinely welcome, considered, and valued. Whether you’re buying a regular ticket, making an extra donation, or spreading the word, you’re helping sustain our inclusive vision. If you’re looking for a way to make a meaningful difference, supporting Flowers for ZAP! is the most direct way to do it.
WHO IT'S FOR
This program prioritizes inclusion of marginalized communities, with special focus on people of color and people of trans experience – though anyone facing financial barriers is encouraged to apply. Flowers for ZAP! is designed for those who find the combined costs of tickets, meal plan, supplies, and time off work a barrier to attending.
Important: If you can comfortably afford a ticket, please leave these opportunities for those who cannot. Your consideration helps ensure that resources reach those who need them most.

COMMITMENT
Recipients must attend the full festival weekend: arriving Friday, September 4th and departing Monday, September 7th. We can't accommodate partial attendance, as we want you to experience the complete festival journey.
BACKGROUND
Beyond funding attendance, the initiative aims to spark a broader conversation in the dance music community about equity, care, and showing up for one another. It also shares a model that other queer and trans organizers can replicate elsewhere. Flowers for ZAP was founded in 2024 by ZAP director Joyce Lim, inspired by a similar program at the Honcho campout festival in Pennsylvania. This initiative enabled the festival to support 30 attendees with gifts totaling over $4,000 for services including sponsored admission, meal plans, camping supplies, and transportation.
