Keeping Our Area in Bloom – Together
Over the past several years, HALCYON GARDENS has been planting and enhancing the Linkside / Walmington Fold roundabout and Sussex Ring (N12). This project was largely been self-funded, supported by a few kind donations from neighbours.
Last year, thanks to the generosity of our neighbours and friends, we raised £810 on GoFundMe to support further planting and restoration work — helping to make our neighbourhood even more beautiful and enjoyable for everyone.
What Your Donations Achieved
The funds raised contributed towards:
• Purchasing and planting additional spring bulbs, including mini tête-à-tête daffodils and crocuses for the roundabout and the green verges along Walmington Fold and Sussex Ring.
• Clearing invasive ground ivy from the roundabout
• Seeding wild perennials such as foxgloves, angelica, poppies, fennel, evening primrose, cow parsley, hollyhocks and verbascum
We are now hoping for strong germination this spring and summer, and look forward to a beautiful flowering display for everyone — whether visiting local cafés and shops or just going for a stroll.
Why We’re Relaunching for 2026
The transformation has been noticeable. Many neighbours have shared how much the planting has lifted the area — particularly during the spring months.
This year, we hope to continue planting and maintenance, and to install small signs to help prevent the Council spraying herbicide and protect the planting we’ve worked so hard to establish — including the much-loved topiary cat, Cicero, which many residents fondly remember fondly - before he was decapitated by the Council!!!
Why It Matters
A greener neighbourhood:
• Lifts community spirit
• Supports pollinators and local wildlife
• Enhances the experience of visiting our local cafés and shops
• Creates pride in where we live
Your continued support is greatly appreciated and encourages us to do more.
