Our son, Ares Flora, was just diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on July 1st, 2025 at five and a half years old. Treatment is expected to be ongoing for the next 2.5 years, with many outpatient and in-patient visits to the Savannah Children's hospital, which is about an hour away from our home in Ridgeland, SC.
We are asking for any financial support that you can offer to help with current and future transportation costs, vehicle maintenance, food, educational assistance, and general living expenses. Both parents are expected to periodically lose wages as a result of missing work to be available for treatments and childcare, especially Sara who will have to greatly reduce her available hours and will miss entire weeks of work at times. Our other son, Atlas, also requires special care as he is autistic and type-1 diabetic and requires many additional therapies and doctor visits. We will also need to dedicate time and resources to providing homeschooling, as Ares is highly immunicompromised and will not be able to attend in-person kindergarten, and Atlas requires special education.
The attention and care both of our sons need right now is critical, and any support you can offer will provide financial relief so that Sara and I can ensure we can give all the medical attention and love our sons need at this time. Any donation is greatly appreciated, and we also appreciate any prayers and words of encouragement. Please consider sharing with others. Thank you for all of the love and support.
