I’m just one person who got tired of being surveilled in my own town, and that’s what pushed me to build Flock Out Newport, a website dedicated to informing residents about the implications of automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras installed in Newport, Rhode Island. Our resources aim to promote transparency and community engagement regarding surveillance technologies. So far, I’ve paid for the domain and hosting myself, but I’d like to expand our outreach with yard signs, stickers, and flyers to help spread awareness. Funding will go directly to these costs, and I’ll keep a public accounting of all expenses and donations.
