Float for a Boat - Raising funds for Cahore's New Lifeboat

Donation protected
On the 22nd of August 2025, crew members Tom O’Connor and Conor Burke will suit up in their offshore rescue gear and spend 24 hours immersed in the waters of Cahore to raise funds for a new lifeboat which will allow Cahore Inshore Rescue Service to remain functioning. Here’s why its so important -

Help Us Keep Cahore Safe — Support Our Lifeboat Fundraiser
Cahore Inshore Rescue Service is a fully volunteer-run lifeboat and lifeguard organisation, dedicated to saving lives along the beautiful South-East coastline of Ireland. We receive only a small grant allocation from the government — so every rescue, every patrol, and every life saved is thanks to the generosity of people like you.

Our service was founded in 1995 following the tragic drowning of a local woman. Since then, our volunteers have worked tirelessly to protect both locals and visitors — many of whom swim in Cahore and the surrounding areas every day, all year round. People know they can come here, enjoy the sea, and feel safe.

Why We Need Your Help
We’re launching this fundraiser to raise €35,000 for a new rescue boat. Our current boat, while still serving us well, is nearing the end of operational life. This vessel is at the heart of our emergency response — it saves lives, supports local events, and allows us to respond to emergencies along our beautiful coast from Roney Point to Curracloe.

With your support, we hope to:
• Raise €35,000 to purchase a reliable second-hand boat that will serve us for another number years.
• Ideally, raise a higher amount to purchase a brand new boat, offering a longer lifespan and greater long-term safety.

Safety Is Everything
Every week, our current boat undergoes a thorough safety check before it even touches the water — because in an emergency, we only get one chance to get it right. This boat has served us faithfully for 16 years, and we’ve taken great care of it. But now it’s time to plan ahead, ensuring we continue to protect everyone who enjoys our waters.

Powered by Volunteers, Funded by You
Cahore Inshore Rescue is made up of 12-14 crew member volunteers — ordinary people who give up their time to train and be ready for that call when someone needs help. We train every weekend, practising rescue drills and staying prepared, because in life-saving work, reliability is everything.

It costs €20,000 each year just to keep our service running. That’s fuel, maintenance, training, and equipment — all funded by community donations. Without your support, this service simply couldn’t exist.

Be Part of Something Lifesaving
Your donation will directly support the purchase of a new rescue boat, allowing us to continue providing this vital service to everyone who swims, sails, surfs or simply enjoys the sea.
Whether it’s €5 or €500, every euro brings us closer to a safer shoreline.

Thank you for helping us protect lives at sea.

We would like to thank Al Butler from The Coop for his time creating our promotional video!
