Help Flick raise funds for Nepal!

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Flick.

In January 2024, I had the opportunity to visit Nepal. I was fortunate to have been selected & with granted the opportunity to represent Torrens University and participate in a cultural learning experience, being provided with an opportunity to broaden my understanding on traditional & allopathic healthcare in Nepal.

As part of this trip, we will be raising funds primarily for "HRDC": The Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children.

Unfortunately 80% of Nepalis live on less than $2 per day. This means that for so many children, serious injuries or disabilities go untreated, leaving both the children and their families to face a lifetime of suffering. After returning to Nepal in 1977 from medical training in the USA, Dr Ashok Banskota was appalled to see the lack of available services for disabled children. He began his small program offering services to the disabled poor in 1985. This initial program created a vision for change & services that has now become the Hospital for Rehabilitation of Disabled Children (HRDC). Over two decades later, the HRDC now employs 230 staff and in 2017, provided over 25,000 consultations and performed over 2,300 surgeries. And it doesn’t stop there: HRDC offers community-based services, following up with patients in their homes & educating families how to care for them. Satellite clinics, partnerships with other hospitals, & mobile camps extend the HRDC’s reach throughout the country, allowing simple injuries to be treated closer to home.

Some of the funds that we raise will go to Dhulikhel hospital, a non-government hospital.
