Ashlie and her kids need our help. Ashlie and her kids lost their home in the devastating flash floods on 6/14/25 in Ohio County, WV. Ashlie was cooking dinner for her kids when she looked out the window and saw the creek by her home quickly begin to rise. Ashlie said she barely had time to turn off the stove! She grabbed her kids and left her windows open for her cats. They jumped in her car as the water began to surge over the creek bank and towards her home. Ashlie and her kids barely made it out before the devastation hit her trailer. Hours later, Ashlie learned that she had lost her home and all their belongings.
It's always traumatic to lose a home, but Ashlie had been single-handedly rebuilding her trailer and her life for the last 4.5 years. Hours before the flood, Ashlie posted pictures of the porch she had built for her children to spend time together on. If you know Ashlie, you know she is a dedicated member of The Mother Jones Center for Resilient Community who works to help others find stability and a sense of belonging. Ashlie currently serves as an AmeriCorps member, which allows for a living stipend, but not the means to handle a crisis of this magnitude. Now Ashlie will have to find a new home for her and her kids and replace everything she lost. All funds raised will go to Ashlie and her kids while they rebuild their lives. Ashlie has spent the last 4 years serving her community, and now she needs our support.
