     So many feelings... What a strange, challenging time this is. As a small business, we never ever expected to face a challenge like COVID-19, and it is a big one for us indeed. The outpouring of support that we have received so far is really heartfelt and means so much to us. We owe a huge thank you and virtual hug to all of you; this is why we do this, and it definitely helps us stay positive and know that we will get through this as a community. 

     At the end of the day, we know that we will overcome this together. We're doing everything we can to support our team and make sure that we are all back and better than ever on the other side of this pandemic. We just can't wait to get back to normal and open the shop to guests and get our normal operations going again! You have no idea how eerily empty and quiet the shop feels without you all; our staff and loyal customers truly are the heart of The Punchdown.


     As I’m sure you can imagine, half of that heart, our dear staff, is suffering while our normal operation is upended. The Bay Area is an unruly place to live, and our Punchdown family is experiencing a massive hit to their livelihood and wellbeing without the generous tipping wages on which they so heavily rely, on top of the hourly wages that they’ve already lost. And so, we are looking to you for help. In the name of community, if you’ve ever enjoyed an evening at The Punchdown, if you’ve ever had a meaningful conversation with these folks, or just enjoyed the ambience drinking a quick glass on your way home from work, we ask you to consider donating to our fund to help our Punchdown family get through this difficult time. We look forward to a less hectic future, in which we can gather again, enjoy wine, and revel in the spirit of community that we’ve been lucky enough to build with you over the years.
