Fisher's Holt, in the Village of Penpont, served as the home for the Sale family, on their return from 10 years Teaching in Zambia, until 2002.
Following the breakup of the family unit in 1982, it served as a refuge for those fleeing domestic violence and as a place of solace and healing for those in need of it.
Since 2002, following the death of her daughter, Gwen, Maggi, a retired Social Worker, based in Glasgow, has self-financed her gardening work with displaced people, and Fishers Holt has continued to serve as a place of welcome and sharing, over the years, for lost souls "Frae a' the Airts".
After the Pension Pot was depleted, the House earned it's keep until 2023 by the very occasional Airbnb guest in search of Rural respite.
This was largely managed by Maggi's youngest son Richard and afforded him a small income at a critical time in his life.
Over the last two years, as his health deteriorated due to a Sinus Tumour, Richard was unable to attend to the external maintenance of the House, in which he had taken such previous pride, and only after his death earlier this year was the true extent of structural damage revealed.
The frame-work of two dormer windows in the roof is in critical condition and will likely succumb to another major storm. Maggi's older son was debilitated during COVID and is unable to advise or assist.
Maggi receives both comfort and purpose from the Work that she continues on a daily basis, Bread -making, Counselling, Polarity, Enneagram Workshops etc and it is her earnest hope that Fisher’s Holt will continue to play a part in that. ️
But she needs assistance to do so, in the Form of immediate Funds to finance essential repairs, and long-term Residential Income to cover the costs of managing and maintaining the Property.
