Fish tank for St Catherine's special needs school

Hi all ,

My partner and I have a son who attends St Catherine's special school in Newcastle Wicklow. He has a range of disabilities and diagnosis, he's non verbal and frequently gets over stimulated, this results in him getting very upset and it causes a tremendous amount of distress for him. Many children in Mathis's school are like Mathis.

We heard a few year's back that aquariums are very soothing for neurodivergent people.

So we invested in a large fish tank. This is a game changer. When he is overwhelmed, we bring him to his fish tank and it instantly calms , this avoids a range of behaviours including self harm , and it decreases their distress which is the goal!

It will also bring a lot of joy laughter and happiness to the children. Mathis has spent hour's watching the movements of the fish laughing and clapping, we feel that every child in Mathis's school deserves that happiness and relief ❤️

It will also be a bonus for the beautiful staff , and make their lives a little bit easier !

It's also proven that it helps the children's neurological health.

We're also doing a spin on Sunday the 17th of September at 10am. All bikers welcome. Meet up a howth summit car park for coffee a catch up before departure at 10.45. And then we will all spin down the costal route stopping at Merrion , {texaco garage} to stretch the legs and let the bikes cool , fuel up if needed, and then finishing point at Bray seafront , where we can all grab a bag of chips ! There will be a collection bucket on the day , all donations no matter how small welcome.
