My husband Marshal and I are expecting our first child, our son Jemmy, in just a few short weeks. I have had a very difficult pregnancy full of emergency room trips, hospital stays, specialist referrals, heart monitors, and numerous medications. One hospital stay was over Christmas after I was injured AT WORK. But despite all of this, I have continued to work a full time job that I loved. Until February 10th when HR called me and terminated my employment over the phone, with vague reasoning and refusals to discuss further. They fired me knowing that I am 33 weeks and 4 days pregnant, that I have had a high risk pregnancy, and chose to do this so late in my pregnancy that I do not have time to start a new job before giving birth. February 10th was also my husband's last day at his former job before he starts his new job (which we are very excited about!). His insurance will not kick in until May. I am about to undergo the most expensive (and traumatic) medical event of my life with no health insurance for myself or my son. We are reaching out to our communities in hopes that there are some of you with the ability to help us financially navigate this very sudden attack on our new little family. We are in the process of finding "in the meantime" coverage for me, but we will now be a one paycheck household with the same amount of rent, groceries, bills, and HUGE medical bills to pay. Please help if you are able, please share with your loved ones, and please pray for us as we try to focus on the incoming joy that is our son and not the darkness trying to overtake this time in our life.
