Firefighters Charity & Bedford Hospital charity fund raiser!
Donation protected
Hey,
As many of you know, I busted a gut recently in the literal sense!
I feel extremely grateful to be back to full health, and back 'on the run'. This was due to the excellent surgery team at Bedford hospital (who used a robotic arm to assist in the surgery), and the Fire Service Charities rehab centre in Penrith.
Recently, I’ve been planning a way to raise money for both the ‘Fire Service Charity’ and the ‘Bedford Hospital Charity’, who paid for the robotic arms in both Bedford and Luton hospital. If you’re interested, here’s a news article on the technology - https://www.bedfordindependent.co.uk/robot-assisted-surgeries-reach-1000-at-bedford-and-ld-hospitals-in-just-two-years/
The best idea I’ve come up with is a 5K race at Bedford Athletics Stadium. I will run the full 5K, against multiple Bedfordshire fire service teams who will be running 400M legs as a relay team.
The ‘race’ booked for 26/07/25. Obviously it’s not really about the contest, it’s all about raising money for the charities while having some fun! 50% of the money raised will go to the Fire Service charity, and 50% to the Bedford hospital charity. I plan to have a burger van there and the tracks bar will be open, hopefully we can turn it into a fun evening/community event!
