Fire Recovery: Barbara's Home Lost: Help Her Recover

I am starting a GoFundMe page for my partner's mother. On the morning of Christmas Eve, 24th December, we received a call that there was a bad fire in her family home on the corner of Greenpoint and McGuinness Ave. We rushed to the house where there were over 60 FDNY responders. Since then, we have been between the house dealing with the aftermath of the fire and the hospital where my partner’s mother was in ICU for 20 days, 10 of them intubated with a ventilator. We have our lucky stars to thank that Barbara is now out of the hospital and on the road to recovery.

There was no contents insurance, so her life’s possessions have mostly been lost. The repair to her house will take over a year. Barbara is staying with us for now, but we live in a small apartment and need to find temporary accommodation as well. I have started this page to help raise some funds to help rebuild Barbara’s life.

There were news reporters on the day of the fire, but we did not want to speak with them due to Barbara being on the way to ICU. We have also not told many of our friends and family since the incident as we have just been trying to deal with everything involved. Close friends and family have been an enormous support, and I ask for a small contribution to help rebuild Barbara’s life.
