Help Finn get an autism safety bed
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Emily and I’m raising money to get my son Finn an autism safety bed. He is an eloper and has self-injurious behaviors. I took him to Children’s hospital in Milwaukee after 2 sleepless nights where he kept waking and banging his head against the wall. They even did a CT because of the swelling. Thankfully, he did not have any serious injuries. I sleep in his room every night to make sure he does not get injured, but that’s what woke me up those nights, and those few head bangs caused a lot of swelling. He does it HARD. As far as psychology goes, we have been on the waiting list for 2 1/2 months. They told me it could be 6-9 months. He does do multiple therapies, and has sensory toys, swing, weighted blanket, etc.
They had this type of bed in his room at Children’s hospital. It is designed to help keep them safe from self harm, and keep them from eloping. I was also shocked because he immediately wanted to be in it. He seemed very calmed by it, and when he was getting overstimulated in his room, he would go in there to calm down.
They are so expensive (6,000-20,000) but I need to keep him safe, and I need to sleep too. He sleeps an average of 6 hours a night usually with an extended awake period in the middle. In the one at the hospital, he slept for 9 hours SOLID. Which is unheard of with him, especially being away from home.
He also loves breaking glass and his room is empty because of him trying to break his windows with objects. He now tries to use his head. His room is on the second story so you can imagine how scary this is. Please donate if you can and please share. Thank you
