Finish the Beautiful Community Event Pavilion Space

Spring Greetings Dear Community,
When Bret and I got married on the land we call home, 18 years ago, we made vows to each other, and equally important, we made vows to the land and to our community. The spirit of our intentions set way back then, has carried us through so many projects, collaborations, and stewardship, that has shaped the evolution of our homestead to include all that it offers today.
What an incredible journey it has been, filled with gatherings, events, ceremonies, performances, rituals, campouts, workshops, and retreats. We have moved more and more in the direction of offerings out to our community of friends and family, all rooted from a place of deep healing which takes many forms.
Over the last few years, it has become clear that the land needs a large, more permanent gathering space that can hold all the things, rain or shine. So many events up until now have been makeshift—whether it was setting up a large tent, a few pop ups, or needing to cancel because of weather. It’s challenging to open up the land for people to come and create an event of some kind, gather resources, an audience, and energy, do all the planning, and then need to cancel.
So, with the movement toward more community events that are regular and reliable, we have designed and started to build a pavilion! It is a timber frame structure built in the traditional way—no metal, all posts, beams, and wooden pegs, notched together to create the most solid of structures that will last a very very long time. We hope people will be enjoying this for many generations to come.
Bret has done most of the work so far himself, an epic endeavor! And we have had some help raising the bents, as well as a little other help here and there. It has taken longer than we intended, because of so much rain, and some family circumstances.
The time is NOW to finish it, and we are asking for support if you are able and feel called!
You will be supporting a space that is for many to enjoy themselves, do deep healing work, sing and dance, eat together, play music, do yoga, grief work, children activities, and the list goes on. Bret and I will host and offer, and others will be invited to as well. We even might have a wedding here!
The structure will be open air, with some ways to enclose it loosely for when a more closed container is needed. It will include tables and benches for community banquet farm to table dinners and tea parties, and a bar area for elixirs and various other drinks during events.
The roof will be solid, but include skylights to let sunshine in, and the ground will be grass.
Reaching out to community feels vulnerable, but right for this project, to get it finished sooner rather than later, so we can all start enjoying it this season!
Your contribution will be specifically put toward the materials and labor needed to complete the structure, along with all the other things that will make the space fully functional—such as electricity, tables and benches, and enclosure materials.
Thank you, from our whole hearts, for anything you can contribute, whether it be monetary, through this campaign, perhaps offering something from the space, spreading the word about things happening here, sending well wishes, and/or coming to participate in things when the time is right.
Love and Health,
Alyssa and Bret
