Finding Takesushi a New Home
Donation protected
Robin Kawada has been one of the pioneers in the sushi business in NYC for almost 50 years. His restaurant, Takesushi, made Sunnyside a home for the past 11 years. Due to issues with the new owner of the building we had to close our doors this past October.
During the summer, until our closing, we experienced the overwhelming support from friends, family, regular and new customers! A huge help was from the folks at Righteous Eats for getting the word out there and bringing in so many people from your videos .
With all the love and support from the community, Kawada-san had started looking for a new location but nothing was able to be secured before we our final day on Sunday, October 29th, 2023. We are close to finding a new location but need some help from everyone.
We are asking the community for any donation amount to help us with the new location, renovations, moving, and some of the costs in setting up a new location. Kawada-san has already paid out-of-pocket for the majority of the expenses but needs a little more help, if possible.
He loves what he does, and loves seeing the customers come in to enjoy the food. We're hoping that we can keep this going and can continue to serve everyone the best Japanese food and sushi that we can.
For all those that have given Takesushi a try (old and new customers, regulars and first timers) we greatly appreciate you. The amount of love and support from everyone who has come in to eat, or just dropped by to say hello, has been tremendous!!! Arigatou gozaimashita - ありがとう ございました
