Recently returned home after serving my full 10-year sentence and am currently on 10 years of special parole. Since my release, I have been struggling with stable housing, employment, and financial stability, and I do not currently have a place of my own to live.
I have been actively searching for work but have had significant difficulty securing employment. I am continuing to apply wherever possible, but my situation has made it extremely challenging. At this time, I also have no family, friends, or support system to rely on.
I am involved in an ongoing custody matter concerning my child, and I am attempting to comply with court requests to make efforts toward communication and resolution with my child’s mother. However, restrictions from the halfway house have limited my ability to do so.
I was recently placed on a two-week restriction for going out for a walk after my school program was canceled, despite not engaging in any criminal behavior. This has further limited my ability to address housing, employment, and family responsibilities.
I have also recently been diagnosed with PTSD and am working to adjust and stabilize my mental health after returning home. My main goal is to secure a quiet, stable apartment where I can focus on my recovery, employment, and rebuilding my life in a positive direction.
