Financial support for terminal illness

My name is Josie, and a few months ago my world was turned upside down when I found out my lovely Mum, Debbie, had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. To make matters even worse, we found out that she is being denied financial support from the government so is having to deal with the added stress of financial hardship, whilst not being in a physical or mental position to seek work. My Mum has always been my number one supporter, and I owe her everything for the woman I am today - therefore I feel I cannot just stand there and do nothing. Hence, on the 12th of May I’ll be running the Leeds half marathon to try to raise money for my Mum to help ease that worry whilst she navigates her life shattering diagnosis. Running is a new venture of mine, but it has been a brilliant coping mechanism for me in this tough time, and I thought I may as well push myself to do something out of my comfort zone for the greater good. I am being accompanied by my good friend Josh has also very kindly agreed to run and fundraise with me. Every penny we raise will go directly to helping my mum – whether it's helping with food shops, bills, or simply ensuring she can enjoy some sense of normality during her battle with cancer. My family and I are deeply grateful for any support we receive, no matter how big or small.
