Dear friends and family,
This coming January 31 to February 8, 2026, I’ll be joining a medical mission trip with Global Health Outreach (GHO) to Bangkok, Thailand — a place that, while beautiful and vibrant, carries deep brokenness beneath the surface. Despite prostitution being illegal, human sex trafficking remains a devastatingly common reality in parts of Southeast Asia. Many of those trapped in this industry are immigrants — men and women who came seeking work or a better life but found themselves caught in an organized chain of exploitation, coercion, and fear.
Our team will be partnering with a local NGO whose mission is “to reach out to, rescue, and restore those negatively impacted by sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.” Together, we’ll be holding a medical and dental clinic at one of their ministry sites, strategically located in the heart of a red-light district.
During our time there, we expect to see individuals with many unmet health needs — people who have been denied care, often because of the stigma surrounding prostitution and the control of their traffickers. Through compassionate medical attention and the redeeming love of Jesus, our team hopes to help restore not just physical health, but dignity and hope. While we care for their immediate needs, our local partners will continue building relationships that open the door to long-term healing — offering education, skill training, job opportunities, and even repatriation support.
For me personally, this trip comes at a meaningful time in my life. I’ve been practicing as a Physician Assistant for ten years now. I’ve always loved caring for people — it’s what I felt called to do — but the truth is, this past season has been hard. The constant responsibility, the emotional weight of medicine, and the unending needs have left me weary. Some days, the fire I once had for helping others feels like a heavy burden.
That’s part of why I said yes to this trip.
Because mission trips have always been the place where I feel closest to God — where I step away from the noise and remember why I started. It’s where I see His deep love for people so clearly, and I’m reminded that medicine isn’t just work - it’s one of the ways He lets us love people with His heart.
In Bangkok, I’ll have the privilege of serving those who have been forgotten by much of the world — women who are longing to be seen, cared for, and loved. And I’ll get to do that hand-in-hand with God — co-labouring with Him in His mission to bring healing and light to the darkest places.
If you’d like to support me, I would be so grateful.
You can come alongside me through prayer — that God would prepare our hearts, protect our team, and move powerfully through every encounter.
And if you feel led, you can also offer financial support to help cover the cost of travel and supplies.
Thank you for journeying with me — for your love, your prayers, and your faith in a God who still heals, still rescues, and still calls us to love His people.
With gratitude and love,
Gina
