Hello everyone, my name is Mariah and I find myself at a complete loss for words during what is undoubtedly the hardest time of my life. I was going to record a video for this fundraiser but I just couldn't do it. The pain of losing my dear mother and best friend, Ana, to cancer just this month of March has left an enormous, painful mark on my heart and the hearts of my family members.

For all who knew her, you knew she was an incredible woman. She had been quietly battling cancer for 2 years. We made sure her last days were spent as comfortably as possible and I stayed with her every single night. And though it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do, I was by her side the morning she left us as I did not want her last moments to be spent alone.

Amidst the grief and sorrow, we also face the overwhelming financial burden that accompanies such a devastating loss.

During my mother's illness, I dedicated most of my time to her care. Day after day, I tirelessly attended to her needs, shuttling her to appointments, managing her medications, and ensuring she was comfortable. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to secure a caretaker through her insurance, leaving me to bear the responsibility alone as I was the only one available to help since my aunt had to continue working.

As a result, I was unable to work myself, further compounding our financial struggles. My incredible aunt stepped in to support me and my mom during this trying time, shouldering the burden of our expenses with unwavering love and generosity. Yet, the weight of these financial obligations has taken its toll on her as well.

I am humbly reaching out for assistance in alleviating the financial strain that has befallen us. Your support will not only help me repay my aunt for her selfless contributions but also provide much-needed relief as we navigate this exceptionally difficult period of transition as we handle her belongings and affairs.

Back fees for our Florida storage unit: $1,220

Back rent for 1 month of our Florida apartment: $1,000

Expenses due to me not able to work during the last 5 months including medical equipment my aunt had to pay for out-of-pocket: $9,200

Storage clearing & moving remaining belongings: $3,500
