Hi, my name is Kaia and I never thought I’d be here, but I’m asking for help while I try to rebuild my life after a series of hard setbacks.

Recently, (December 2024), I was kicked out of my mom’s house, and she’s refused to give back any of my belongings; including my cat, who is stuck in an unsafe environment. The other cat in the house, constantly attacks her, and it breaks my heart knowing she’s not safe while I fight to get her back. On top of that, she previously had liver disease and is prone to getting sick again; she may need medications or special care, and I can’t even be there to make sure she’s okay.

My mom has also never taken care of her cats, which makes this even more urgent. Both of her cats have tragically died of cancer. The one, Pluto was locked in the basement to die alone, and, the other, Moon ran away, only to return with a huge, oozing sore on her chest. My mom never took her to the vet and didn’t even want her in the house until we had to put her down. It’s heartbreaking that she couldn’t care for these animals properly, and I’m doing everything I can to make sure my cat has a better life.

My car is also being held there. It doesn’t run and needs 4 new tires, a new battery, and insurance before I can finally use it after it sitting outside for over a year. I need help covering the AAA towing fee just to get it moved to my dad’s place, where it can be fixed.

To legally recover my things, my car, and my cat, I’ve had to involve the constable and now need to go through court, which brings more unexpected expenses; filing fees, paperwork, and enforcement costs. And just to make things harder; I also recently got silently fired. My job stopped giving me hours, my managers told me "everyone’s hours were cut", and then fully removed me from the schedule. A few weeks ago, they cut off my direct deposit. I've been job-hunting even before this happened and have a new job lined up for the summer, but I need help making it through until/after then.

Because my mom won’t release my belongings, I also no longer have access to:

• Dental care I’ve needed for over three years. I need oral surgery and braces to correct a serious issue with one of my teeth that my mom never addressed when I moved in with her.

Edit: My dad just put me on his insurance and took me to get an eye exam, so that’s one thing checked off the list! next thing is braces!!!
