Fighting for Justice and Family Reunion

Help me help my sister to pay for a family lawyer. This is her story:

After years of emotional and physical abuse, I decided to leave my husband. At the time of the divorce, I was young and ignorant. I did not speak English and was living a nightmare. I went to the police many times, but his aggression was not filed because he was “Sargent in the Army”. (The police ripped the report in my front of me.) Also, there was a direct family influence of years working within the system. I was forced into accepting a totally unfair agreement. The worst part is that he stole my daughters. And, due to continuous death threats, I haven't been able to see my daughters for 7 years. I was mentally and physically abused.

Even though I have provided evidence to the Court of the monthly payments made on time all these years, now, after a “revision” the State is penalizing me by increasing the pension and charging the complete amount retroactively. This said “revision” did not contemplate my personal expenses, my oldest daughter’s expenses, taxes taken from the check and previous payments made.

Yes, I made a mistake in trusting mediation during the divorce, made by a judge, with mutual agreement. Also, in my ignorance, I did not pay through the “child support” system, and made payments directly to him, understanding everything was resolved. Apparently, the method of payment I used, in the state of Florida, is interpreted as a gift from me to him. Even though I provided evidence of all payments made, these were not considered as part of Child Support.

In the ruling, the judge did not allow me to speak, and sentenced me to an increase in the monthly payments by $700.00, for a total of $1,200.00 monthly and a retroactive grand total of $68,000. This ruling is financially and psychologically asphyxiating me. The Child Support has requested to cancel my passport and is freezing part of my income. This individual continues to mistreat my emotional state, with the help of the State.

I need help to pay this unjustly imposed fine and to be able to hire a lawyer to help me achieve what I want most, to see my daughters and receive justice for once.

Después de años de abuso físico y emocional, decidí dejar a mi esposo. En el momento del divorcio yo era joven e ignorante. No hablaba inglés y estaba viviendo una pesadilla. Fui muchas veces a la policía, pero su agresión no fue radicada por ser soldado. Además, la madre de mi exmarido tenía 20 años de experiencia como secretaria de jueces y conocía el sistema. Me vi obligado a aceptar un acuerdo totalmente injusto. Lo peor es que me robó a mis hijas. Y, debido a las continuas amenazas de muerte, hace 7 años que no puedo ver a mis hijas. Fui abusada física y mentalmente.

Aunque he aportado pruebas al Tribunal de los pagos mensuales realizados a tiempo durante todos estos años, ahora, después de una “revisión”, el Estado me penaliza aumentando la pensión y cobrando el monto total de manera retroactiva. Esta dicha “revisión” no contemplaba mis gastos personales, los gastos de mi hija mayor, impuestos descontados del cheque y pagos anteriores realizados.

Sí, cometí un error al confiar en la mediación durante el divorcio, hecha por un juez, de mutuo acuerdo. Además, en mi ignorancia, no pagué a través del sistema de “manutención infantil”, sino que le hice los pagos directamente a él, entendiendo que todo estaba resuelto. Al parecer, el método de pago que utilicé, en el estado de Florida, se interpreta como un regalo de mi parte para él. Aunque proporcioné evidencia de todos los pagos realizados, estos no se consideraron parte de la manutención infantil.

En el fallo, el juez no me permitió hablar y me condenó a un aumento en los pagos mensuales de $700.00, para un total de $1,200.00 mensuales y un total retroactivo de $68,000. Esta sentencia me está asfixiando económica y psicológicamente. La manutención de menores ha solicitado cancelar mi pasaporte y está congelando parte de mis ingresos. Este individuo sigue maltratando mi estado emocional, con la ayuda del Estado.

Necesito ayuda para pagar esta multa injustamente impuesta y poder contratar un abogado que me ayude a lograr lo que más deseo, ver a mis hijas y recibir justicia de una vez.
