As of October 21st. Most recent update from Amanda, Charlie’s mom,”Please keep praying for Charles. We just got the news that he has bacterial meningitis. It’s a very serious infection and he’s now being treated at OHSU, where they’re also managing fluid buildup in his brain.”

We’re scared and heartbroken, but we’re holding on to hope and trusting the doctors and God to carry him through this. Charles is strong, and we know he’s fighting with everything he’s got. Please keep the prayers coming we feel every bit of your love and support. #charliestrong

Charlie has successfully made it through a day long surgery to remove his Tumor. They have removed just about the whole entire Tumor. There is still a small amount of it left that the doctors will monitor. But as of right now Charlie is out of surgery and recovering with his momma by his side!! Thank you Everyone for all the love, prayers, shares, donations, and support!! With all your help you all have allowed some stress to be removed from Amanda and allowed her the opportunity to stay right beside her baby boy as he endures all of this!! I will continue to update!

My name is Chelsy, It is with my best friend, Amanda’s, permission I make this gofundme. A couple days ago hers and her her family’s life took an unexpected turn. Her oldest son, Charles (Charlie) Illingworth who is only 14 years old, was diagnosed with a very significant sized brain tumor. With this diagnosis brings life changing obstacles for Charles. He is currently up at OHSU undergoing many tests to map out the tumor and make plans for surgery. He is not able to come home for the foreseeable future as they are testing and planning for surgery in the upcoming week(s). Even after surgery he will not be going straight home. There is talk he will be transferred to Randall’s Children Hospital for rehab. With all of this his mom Amanda is staying up at the Hospital with him and not leaving his side. Making this decision is going to take a financial burden on her family. In order for her to focus on Charlie and all that will be happening she could really use the help of the community around her. She will need help with paying bills to keep her Rental, Fuel for her other two boys to be transported back and forth to see their brother, and much more.

Charlie is such an amazing young man full of love and life and enjoys being around his first Love. He deserves to have his mom stay by his side through all of this as he is scared of the changes that are quickly happening.

Last night a drain tube was inserted in his skull to help relieve some of the pressure that had been building up. He was several more tests he will be enduring as the Neurologists map out the best successful route for surgery. He will also be, in the upcoming days undergoing an MRI of his spine to see if the Tumor has grown into his spinal column.
