It’s a terrible period for us all. Students, already living precarious lives, are being plunged into outright poverty by COVID19. UQ is trying to make a big show of providing hampers to students in poverty. Only catch - they expect students to pay $25 a hamper.

My name is Drew Pavlou - as the student representative to the UQ Senate, I think this is unacceptable. It’s time to organize. Let’s get 250 FREE hampers to UQ students as soon as possible. All money raised will go towards buying essential household staples and supplies to pack free student hampers - I will provide public screenshots of grocery store receipts to verify the spending of every dollar raised. 

We will make sure we adhere to strict sanitary protocols to avoid passing on the sickness to the vulnerable. We want to help people live with dignity. Everyone deserves to know where their next meal is coming from. Let’s work together to fight to make this a reality!
