Fight starvation in Lombok

As of 12 December, Indonesia is in the number 19 spot of COVID cases globally with a shocking 611,631 total cases and 18,653 deaths. While Indonesia continues to see an upward trajectory of new COVID-19 cases, there is an underlying threat that has exacerbated as a result of the pandemic. This is the chronic malnutrition and overwhelming numbers of malnourishment that has long afflicted isolated communities like in Lombok, which is an island east of Bali in Indonesia.

With tourism coming to a halt and with hardly any government assistance in rural communities, affording food is becoming a hardship. The corona virus has created a new class of people who are in desperate need of food assistance in Lombok.

I seek to purchase and distribute food packs to the Lombok locals. By purchasing resources in bulk, it's possible to pack more meals for a much cheaper cost! I am purchasing food packs for families in need that will supply the most basic survival nutrients. 

The Food Packs will include:
- 5 kg of rice
- 1 liter of cooking oil
- Half a box (20 pieces) of noodles
- Half a tray of eggs
- 1 kg of sugar 
- 1 kg of kerupuk (crackers)

- For reference, a donation of $30 will provide food for a family of four for roughly a month!!!

In partnership with Lombok aid, and additional aid from The Chance Project and Aging Siaga, we are working together with the local ‘kadus’ - heads of each village, and have been identifying individuals who are at utmost risk including those who have lost their income due to COVID and those with no financial support network. These individuals are often the elderly, widows and families looking after orphans.
