Fight Against Preeclampsia

Donation protected
I am Kadidia, a mother and a PreEclampsia survivor who made it through thanks to my doctors proactive care. My doctor gave me a blood pressure cuff during my pregnancy and had their office call me regularly after having my baby even if I had been discharged with a fine blood pressure. At 1 month postpartum I was diagnosed with Postpartum Preeclampsia and got  hospitalized for several days for treatment. I am forever grateful for my doctor's proactive care.

Unfortunately not all women are as lucky as I have been. Worldwide up to 8% of pregnancies are affected by this disease that can be fatal to both mom and baby if not detected and cared for in time. To this day, there is no other cure than to deliver the baby and the Preventive care rely on routine BP checks. Moreover, PreEclampsia can develop extremely rapidly which made my vigilant doctor lend me his Blood pressure cuff to take home.
Besides, I am from a part of the world (Mali - West Africa) where such proactive care is almost nonexistent. Just a week before my diagnostic I lost a dear friend in Mali who left behind her three small children - she passed away because of undetected and sudden onset of  Preeclampsia. If she had had the chance to check on her blood pressure frequently between hospital visits, I truly believe that she could have been saved. I want to help other moms the way I have been helped by lending BP cuffs to (future) mothers from early pregnancy to 1 year Postpartum and have dedicated staffs who can support them and connect them to the right healthcare professionals in time.

This summer I will lend 100 blood pressure cuffs to 100  pregnant women in Mali, and I will hire a dedicated staff who will contact the  mothers frequently to help them log their blood pressures and connect them with the right healthcare professionals. Please help us spread awareness and save lives by donating to this campaign. With 5000$ I will buy 100 very accurate blood  pressure cuffs for 40$ each and pay the salary of the on call staffs in Mali.

If your company sponsors humanitarian causes, please help me connect with them.

Before I launch this project this summer, I would also like to learn from all mothers about the best way that I could possibly help; as I know all mothers have very unique experiences with their pregnancies, in particular with Preeclampsia.  Could you please share with me the challenges you/your partner or friends or family had with getting their diagnostic, their care and what you wish was done differently, by using this form? It can be anonymous and should not take you more than 2 minutes to complete and will help us tremendously to better serve future mothers:

I am working on this project with Assitan who is also a mother from Mali and a PreEclampsia survivor. We are very passionate about helping save mothers from going through what we went through. I sincerely hope one day no woman will ever risk their life when bringing babies on earth.   Thank you in advance for your help. Best, Kadidia
