I'm Sisi,
One year ago, I was just an ordinary woman trying to report a high-risk stalking case.
Today, hundreds of thousands of people have seen videos of police forcing entry into my home in balaclavas, heard my screams as I was violently arrested, and seen me removed in a wheelchair as my health deteriorated under the weight of repeated investigations, phone seizures and legal battles.
My name is Sisi. I live with ME/CFS. Before this happened, I had a small personal social media account with a few hundred followers. I never planned to become an activist or public figure. I simply wanted to be protected and heard. After repeated refusals by the police to investigate my case, I began to share my story.
After speaking publicly about my experiences as a victim with policing, other victims began reaching out to me with their own stories, many involving serious allegations of police brutality, misconduct and institutional failures that they felt nobody else would listen to.
Some sent CCTV footage. Some sent medical records. Some were children. Some were women terrified to speak publicly themselves.
One of the viral videos I shared involved a 15-year-old boy who was impaled during a police incident, yet the investigation reportedly concluded with a finding of “acceptable service.” As more stories were shared online, public attention grew rapidly. Videos exposing these cases began going viral because people were horrified by what they were seeing.
For many victims, social media became the only place they felt visible.
But as my platform grew, so did the pressure and escalation surrounding me personally. I have experienced repeated arrests, ongoing investigations, phone seizures, and intense legal and emotional strain. In several interviews, duty solicitors appeared shocked that no clear offence could be properly articulated to justify the action being taken against me.
The physical impact has been devastating. My ME/CFS has significantly deteriorated and I am now under specialist rehabilitation services. I have lost stability, safety, income and the ability to continue this fight alone.
Despite this, I kept speaking because I knew what it felt like to be ignored. I knew what it felt like to have evidence dismissed, to feel powerless against institutions, and to watch victims become too frightened to speak at all.
But I have now reached the point where I urgently need legal representation and specialist support to continue defending myself and continuing this work safely. I have been quoted legal costs far beyond anything I can manage alone.
I never expected my life to become this. I never expected to become someone victims turned to when they felt abandoned by the system. But this community has stood beside me throughout the last year, and many people have told me that the stories I shared helped them feel less alone.
Now, I am asking for help in return.
Your support will help fund legal representation, protect my ability to continue advocating safely, and ensure that these stories, and the people behind them, are not silenced through fear, exhaustion or lack of resources.
Thank you for reading, supporting and standing with us.
