Fight a Raging Wildfire near Antigua, Guatemala
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Alice Lai. I am a resident of a town situated at the base of Agua volcano, which lies close to the UNESCO city, Antigua, Guatemala, where a wildfire is burning out of control. I have teamed up again with my good friend Helena Murphy, to try to get as many funds as possible for the helicopter and airplane to fight the fire.
Today alone, the wildfire has rapidly burned and destroyed a huge area of natural habitat on one side of the volcano.
Thousands of people live on and around the volcano and right now can only look on in fear as the fire burns into the night.
Resources are extremely limited on the ground. Right now, the fire fighting efforts depend largely on local volunteer firefighters, local people, and some state support.
Funds are Urgently needed to fight the wildfire from the air.
To get a fire fighting helicopter in the air costs $2600 and for every additional hour, $1500.
Additionally, volunteer firefighters are calling out for equipment, water, canned food, and gas for the firetrucks etc.
All your donations will go directly to getting this wildfire under control and keeping communities around the volcano safe.
