Fierce Flames - Toronto to Montreal 650km Charity run
Donation protected
Hi, we are the Fierce Flames, an all-women's run team that is taking part in the annual relay race run from Toronto to Montreal. This test of fitness, endurance, relentlessness and mental toughness (madness!) begins on Wednesday, October 30th, and spans a grand total of approximately 650 kilometres, over 3 (ish) days, with each team member running an average of 60-65 kms.
During this journey, we are raising funds to split across 3 different charities.
As an all-women's team, we decided to raise money for women in need in both cities of Toronto and Montreal with a third of the money raised to Sistering, a multi-service agency for women and gender-diverse people who need assistance to address their basic needs through social services and wrap-around supports. We will also be donating the second third of our money raised to the West Island Women's Shelter in Montreal, which offers a free, confidential and safe haven to women and their children who are victims of conjugal violence.
Finally, as an international team, we would like to support those coming to Canada to start a new life, particularly refugees in need of supports when they land here in Canada. For this reason, we will give the final third of our funds raised to Sojourn House which is the largest refugee shelter in Toronto dedicated to providing housing and support services to recently arrived refugee claimants.
We appreciate your support!
