Fields Family Adoption

Hi there! We are the Fields Family! Thanks so much for visiting our GoFundMe page! This is a little bit of our story. If you have questions, please dont hesitate to ask! We are excited to see where the Lord leads as we move forward in this journey....

This coming June 2, 2021, we will be celebrating 14 years of marriage. When we look back over the last 14 years, there are specific seasons that stand out to us that have truly lead us to be where we are today.

During our first 10 years of marriage, we moved around quite a bit. We like to joke about the fact that it helped us keep from accumulating too many things and it was our way of having a new adventure every year or so. We made the big change from living in a tiny town in Northeast Georgia to the city of Athens during our fourth year of marriage. We’ve now been living in the Athens area for almost 10 years and this city has truly become our home. We feel settled here with a strong community of friends and an amazing Church family.

When we think back on the greatest challenge that we’ve faced in our marriage, we both agree that Wade’s cancer diagnosis, treatment, and the results of that season really took a toll on us. It was a painful season and one in which we were forced to fully lean on God and rely on others for support and help.

At the end of his treatment, we were incredibly blessed with the amazing prognosis that there was 97% chance that his cancer would never return. Within a year’s time of Wade’s cancer treatment ending, we were given the news that it was unlikely that we would be able to conceive another child. The cancer and treatment had done some damage and we were left with the decision as to whether or not we would try to grow our family in other ways.

In the aftermath of that season, we spent months in counseling working on ourselves and our marriage. We know without any doubt that God used Wade’s cancer and the struggles that we went through to strengthen our marriage in ways that we never could have even imagined.

We are now six and half years post-cancer and we are excited and thankful for where we are headed. God has given us new hope and joy and peace and He’s made it abundantly clear that this pursuit of adoption is the next step that our family needs to take in obedience to Him.

In Galatians 4: 4-6, Paul says, “But when that era cam to an end and the time of fulfillment had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the written law. Yet all of this was so that he would redeem and set free all those held hostage to the written law so that we would receive our freedom and a full legal adoption as his children. And so that we would know for sure that we are his true children, God released the Sprit of Sonship into our hearts — moving us to cry out intimately, “My Father! You’re our true Father!”

We love this passage because it cuts straight to the point. God created adoption. We were adopted into His family and became heirs of His kingdom when we accepted Christ as savior. He sent Jesus to die for us so that we could become His true children and the Holy Spirit could live in our hearts. We are called to walk in the confidence that we belong to God. We are excited that God may provide an opportunity for us to adopt a child into our family and that He might use us as a vessel to raise up another child to walk in His truth and love.
