"Field Of Dreams" Recreation- Tigray, Ethiopia
Donation protected
We, as a society, are generally very fortunate to be living during a time of vast changes, both in our social structures, and in our relationship with the land. However, change takes practice, dedication, commitment, and teamwork. Change does not follow the constraints of time. NO. Progression is not a linear path.
MISSION: The community of May Adrasha tucked away in Tigray, Ethiopia, is working hard to improve the quality of its children’s education. The townspeople of May Adrasha are trying to redress the gender inequalities that have for so many years not allowed girls the opportunity to enjoy athletic pursuits and play like the boys. With this in mind, Adey Meshelsh, the town’s primary school, hopes to build a co-educational recreation center, featuring a regulation soccer field, volleyball court, and weightlifting/strengthening fitness equipment stations. The laudable goal is to build a place for boys and girls to enjoy healthful physical activity, and help fight against cultural oppression and gender inequality.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: My dear friend Hanna Anday has been coordinating the finances and contracting for the facility; however we have still not met our budget objectives.
We are asking for your support to help us raise the additional $1,761.25 needed to purchase several soccer balls, volleyballs, soccer/volleyball nets, and 48 scrimmage team practice vests. Every dime would be graciously appreciated.
Everyone is equally deserving of a healthy lifestyle. Stand beside Adey Meshelsh to provide both boys and girls a chance to chase their dreams, whether it is on the soccer field or in university.
Together let's lift weights, lift spirits, lift oppression!
