Walney Island U15s will be having a 12 hour football match against a team of parents and family members on Saturday 19th July. This will be to raise some much needed funds for the Stroke Unit and Bereavement Support in FGH, areas close to some of the team members and their families who have needed both in recent times.

Since we began as a team we have done various fundraising events with huge success. We've held 2 running challenges, raising a total of £4495. This money has gone to provide funds for Furness Homeless Support Group, St Mary's Hospice, Barrow Stroke Unit, Barrow Bereavement Support, food for Barrow Food Bank, toys for Project John and food hampers for the elderly via Age Uk. We have also had a fines system in place this year, with fines being paid in the form of food which will prove 2 boxes of food again for Barrow Food Bank.

As stated above, we have raised for the Stroke Unit and Bereavement Support before. It really hit home when handing over funds to these areas on how much they need help at the minute. We have families who have relied on these areas and no doubt many of us will in the future too.
