The Burton Adventure Recreation Center (BARC) is a unique park providing an indoor skatepark, a disc golf course, a BMX course and trails, and a sand volleyball court to the community of Vashon Island.  In 2012, committed volunteers of all ages formed the BARC Stewardship Council.  Working alongside the Vashon Park District, this group raised money and awareness in order to continue the programming and availability of what BARC has to offer.  One major project has been the installation of a bowl, just outside the indoor skatepark.  A $75,000 grant has already been secured for the construction of the bowl from King County.  We need one last push to cover $4000 in engineering and design fees not covered by the grant to break ground this fall.
