Feto Forte, Futuru Forte (Strong Women, Strong Future)

Women are the heart of families and communities, yet many women in Timor-Leste continue to face significant barriers to health education, wellbeing, confidence, and opportunity. Despite hardship, trauma (physical and sexual), and limited access to support services, these women continue to demonstrate extraordinary resilience, strength, and determination every day.

Feto Forte, Futuru Forte (Strong Women, Strong Future) is a Queensland-based initiative facilitated in support of PROEMA, a community organisation in Timor-Leste dedicated to empowering women and supporting community wellbeing. This program is being independently coordinated by a team of Australian veterans and health professionals who are volunteering their time and expertise to deliver practical education, mentoring, and holistic wellbeing support to women within local communities.

The program is planned to be facilitated during the last week of August 2026 in Timor-Leste, working alongside local communities in partnership with PROEMA.

The purpose of this initiative is to provide culturally respectful education and practical skills development focused on:

* Women’s holistic health and wellbeing

* Menstrual health and hygiene

* Breast health awareness and self-examination

* Sexual health and hygiene education

* Exercise and movement for long-term wellbeing

* Leadership and self-confidence development

* Assertiveness and communication skills

* Beauty and hairdressing skills

* Small business and personal development education

For many women, access to this type of education and support is limited. This program aims to create safe and empowering spaces where women can build confidence, develop practical skills, strengthen self-worth, and support one another within their communities.

Funds raised through this GoFundMe campaign will be used to support:

* International and domestic travel directly related to program delivery

* Accommodation and local transport costs

* Educational resources and workshop materials

* Health, hygiene, and practical training supplies

* Equipment required for program activities

* Community support resources associated with the delivery of the initiative

Any remaining funds following program delivery will be transferred directly to PROEMA to support their ongoing women’s and community programs. Financial transparency and accountability will remain a priority throughout the project.

* All personnel involved in program delivery are volunteering their professional skills and experience in support of this initiative.
