Fertility Treatment for Baby Argent-Tingle

As some of you may know, our "plan" has always been: Marriage, House, Dog (Max), Baby, Happily Ever After... We've just been stuck on one bit of the plan and figured we've got nothing to lose in asking for a little help…

In 2016, we got to starting the process by asking our GP for advice on how it all works... After a very frustrating appointment with a GP explaining of local clinics that dealt with "procedures such as reassignment" we quickly moved on to a different GP who understood what we needed and that looked into the requirements, running through with us what we needed to do. She explained that in our county (Buckinghamshire) NHS funded 1 round of IVF for couples that could not conceive naturally.

A year of losing weight, getting healthy and all the blood tests as per Doctors orders, we were referred to John Radcliffe for an initial consultancy appointment, where we were told, whilst we had ticked nearly all the boxes one was left... Our GP had not ticked the "tried 2 years naturally". What had not been explained was that if you could not "try naturally" you must prove you'd self-funded for 1 X IVF or 6 X IUI. A very emotional consultation later, annual leave used to attend the appointment, and no further forward, we set about choosing our journey.

We were lucky enough to find a clinic close to home that we felt comfortable and looked after.

3 IUI treatments down, and more money than we were expecting to spend…. We're half way to a free IVF round with our savings spent up and with other bills popping up (dog operations, car bills, boiler bills, etc) as we start to save again, it gets allocated back out on these things, leaving us with no money in the fertility pot and no further forward.

Whilst we appreciate that is life, it prolongs the wait, hence us asking for a bit of support with this.

With Kate's 30th around the corner, and the "plan" a little off path we thought, what have we got to lose to ask for a little help from our friends as that's all we really want…

IUI = 1,500 x 3

Sperm Donation = 2,500 (to cover 3 tries)

Total cost before the NHS "free" IVF = £7,000.00
