Fernando's family in Mexico

Hello, my name is Lena, and I'm finally going out on a limb to ask for help for Fernando's family in Mexico. Fernando came here 15 years ago to help his family in Mexico. He did that for a time, until I snatched him up, and now he helps our own small family with everything he has. Fernando's family experiences significant financial strain which has weighed heavy on my heart for a while. Yet, until now, I was too afraid to reach out because it would show the world that our own family is not capable of helping them as much as we would like to or need to.

During the pandemic, the family business suffered. They were not able to receive aid from the government and were shut down many times. The family business went into debt and it has not been able to recover. Fernando's parents are at retirement age, yet they are still just trying to stay afloat, making whatever payment they can against the business debt. When his brother reached out this year asking for help to buy his children school supplies (his brother’s family also relies on the family business), I knew the situation was dire. We may otherwise never have known, because his parents always speak to us with big smiles, express joy from their hearts towards their family, and are grateful for their life's blessings. Never once have they complained.

It strains my heart to know that such a relatively small amount of money could transform their lives, yet we are not in a position to give it ourselves. I want them to experience just a little bit of ease and comfort in their lives after working so hard for the entire duration. While they may never want to ask for help, they are more than worthy of receiving it.

Any money received in this fundraiser will go directly towards increasing inventory at Talabateria Bazan, in Vera Cruz, Mexico, and paying off the business debt. Any extra will go towards other financial needs for his family (they also have medical expenses that have been put on hold).
