Fences for Farmers around Cobargo
Vicky Aisha here. My old home town Cobargo made international headlines after a firestorm razed the town and surrounding farms. Last I heard about 60 properties have been lost along with many businesses in the main Street.
My family have lived in the area since the 1970s and we love the beautiful local community with its incredible spirit.
Cobargo was where I went to school and I know personally many of the farming families who have lost not only their homes but all their farm infrastructure and fences. Families in Quaama, Brogo, Yowrie, Wandella, and Coolagolite too.
I've set up this campaign to help local farmers in the whole Cobargo area get back on their feet. Many cannot afford to buy basic fencing material and other needs.
Like so many communities devastated by fire, farmers have taken a huge hit. I want to help the families of those I grew up with. The funds raised will help farmers build fences for their animals and other infrastructure.
My mum has spoken with manager of the local hardware and farm supplies store Tim Senior, who has opened a special bank account for the donations: Cobargo Co-operative Society Ltd https://www.cobargocoop.com.au/ (If you are in any doubt about this campaign, please contact the Cobargo Coop for verification.)
